気になると、ついあれこれ調べてしまう性分だ。今見ている韓国ドラマの時代背景についても、結局色々とみてみてしまった。時は高麗時代。高麗は、現在の韓国の英語読みKoreaのもとにもなったとされていて、918年に開城（今の北朝鮮の都市のひとつ）を拠点に王建（ワンゴン）が建国した。935年には新羅を、936年には後百済を滅ぼして、朝鮮半島を統一した歴史がある。

本当に色々細かく調べてしまったのだけれど、特に興味を引いた点を４つ。

①王建にはなんと近親婚を含めて、30人以上も子供がいたとされるのだが、そのうちのひとり、王旭（ワンウク）の年表に書いてあった、追尊という言葉。なんのことだかさっぱりわからなかったのだが、死後に王の称号を贈おくることを言うようだ。王位継承者が王位に就かずに亡くなった場合、後から王の称号を与えることが出来る、ということみたい。これだけ子供がいたら、なるほど、追尊王も出てくるわけだ。

②韓国にも科挙制度がある？！私はてっきり科挙は中国のものだと思っていた。韓国でも、高麗の第4皇帝光宗が導入して、李氏朝鮮時代まで続いていたそうだ。よく韓国ドラマで両班という言葉が出てきて、これまたよく分かっていなかったのだけれど、「科挙制度を採り入れて官僚制を整備する中で、文武の特権階級が形成され、文班と武班の両班といわれる貴族階級が形成された」という説明を読んでうーん、納得！

③高麗では仏教も儒教も発展していた！成宗の時の儒学者崔承老は、政治改革案を提示しながら、仏教は心身を練磨する根本で儒学は国を治める道理だといったらしい。

④ドラマの中で高麗の人々が漢字を書いていて、なぜだろうと思ったのだけれど、ハングルは1446年に朝鮮語を表記するための表音文字として作られたのだそうで、その前は漢字だったとのこと。ただ、そもそも読み書きは特権階級の人たちのもので、ハングルも広まらず、1970年に漢字廃止政策がとられてから、ようやくハングルが一般の人々にも広まり始めたのだそうだ。全然しらなかったー。

もともと、日本のものでも韓国のものでも、歴史ドラマは大好き。好きなものを通して、新たな知識を得ているのは、悪くない気がする。
